Getting To and From Your Accommodation
Rarotonga International Airport is on the island’s north coast — approximately 2 kilometres from Avarua (the capital) and a maximum of 20 minutes from any accommodation on the island (the entire island is 32 km in circumference). Pre-booked airport transfers provide a vehicle and driver between the airport and your hotel, resort, or holiday home, eliminating the navigation on arrival.
Shuttle services — shared minibus transfers operating on a circuit of the island’s main accommodation areas. The most affordable option.
Private transfers — a dedicated vehicle for your group, providing door-to-door service. The most comfortable option for families and late arrivals.
Rental car or scooter — available at the airport. Rarotonga’s circular road is simple to navigate and a rental vehicle provides independence for the duration of your stay.

How far is the airport from my hotel?
A maximum of 20 minutes by road from any point on the island. Most resort areas (Muri Beach, Aroa Beach, Titikaveka) are 10–15 minutes from the airport.
Do I need a transfer, or can I walk?
If your accommodation is in Avarua (the closest area), walking is feasible with light luggage (approximately 20 minutes). For anywhere else on the island, a transfer or rental vehicle is practical.
